| If a CCNP has a few minutes and can help me make sure I have some information and configurations correct for the skills portion of my CCNA2 final .... I REALLY would appreciate it!
Email me and I will email you back with an attachment of the network diagram and info to verify if I am indeed on the right track.

| Gee, I thought this was the place to ask for help. Guess not.
Never mind.

| Not everyone has time to exchange e-mails just for your configurations. At least by posting here you have a better chance that someone will run by it. | |

| Thanks for letting me know that patience and time to help others under them, are not inherient traits of networking professionals. | |

I agree with Detour. Post your questions here, make it easy for the folks you're asking for help from.

| Ok, I am incredibly bored looking to kill an hour or so before I have to leave so here goes. You would not believe the amount of effort I have extended in trying to help you.
First, let me say this, from someone who is related to a business in softskill consulting, your displayed reaction has been nothing but off putting, what a way to encourage others to go out of their way to help you.
The board exist to help people, as other earlier creations such as newsgroup. This board is populated by working professionals, IT enthuthiasts and what not, what it lack in general is paid professionals who are making money off this. (except the WM and various administrator I suppose)... So while we all aim to be helpful, we are under no obligation to offer assistance and we fully have the right to pick and chose who what and when we offer the help or to simply with held it.
It is incredibly ill form to bump a post less than a day it was posted just to elicite response. If it is urgent, it is your responsibility to bring this to attention at the earliest moment, not our responsibility to respond ASAP.
For someone who can't wait more than a day, your comment regarding patience is hillarious. Your remark will sure make me want to load up my email apps to open a channel of communication with you... Anyway, I did not know that network professionals are bestowed with tons of freetime and are required to use that time to help others under them...
As others stated, you do not make it easy for others to help you. How long do we all have to spend to just open that dialogue to even evaluate if we have the required skill/knowledge you seek? We don't... we have to rely on what you stated, which is an issue regarding ccna semester 3... which while we all should be fluent in, may not be of our interest. I may not care much about routing, or specifically the ISP/core side... while another may be expert in that while weak in security, or switching... We won't know if we would even care to tackle a subject that absolutely bore us... till we waste some valuable time...
yes, our time is valuable... us network professionals don't all sit there playing quake... and believe it or not, it is not in the network professional handbook that we must spend our time to help others... My favorite use of my spare time... SLEEP, which readers of the general forum would know that I terribly lack. What time I do have to spend on this forum among other things of interest is spent reading subjects, or familar names if they respond, which usually is something interesting. For those that I click, I browse over the content of the post to determine if I can help and if I am willing to help, perhaps due to time restraint, or simply the amount of effort to fully explain a subject.
From your original post, you simply want us to varify a diagram you drew, perhaps in visio, is proper design... or perhaps has the proper addressing scheme... takes 10 seconds... IF you put the image on your website and provide the link *and yes, save it as html or jpeg.* and we can simply go, "looks right, looks good, ya, you are on the right track" but noooooooo, you want us to send you an email establishing our desire to help, wait for you to reply back with teh diagram, then email it back to you.. because it suits YOU!
let me also address the nature of a public forum like this and newsgroup... everything is public record... we can engage in private conversation one on one, and my time would help exactly one person, you. if we engage it in public, that information may be helpful for others... and should that person be persistance, he would find that information even years after we have long forgotten some special trick we used... a member, madchef, wrote some excellent post exam notes, which close to 2 years later, I relied on extensively in preparing for my own exams, now, here is a lesson, a very important concept
*ROUTE ONCE, SWITCH MANY*
like dmijohn stated and I have too on many occassion, make it easy for others to help you. We volunteer our time and expertise, you do not demand it, or even expect it from us. Should you chose to employ me, then I would be obligated to provide the service you expect, which as we all know, that's not the nature of our relationship.

| dang Mikee, I don't even have time to type a post as long as yours!
I browse the posts looking for subjects that interest me and on topics that I have the most knowledge, so hopefully my comments can do the most good.
I typically look around early in the morning before work and later at night (late for me, early for most), so my time is short on here.
I avoid multiple questions and vague posts.
Actually the initial post caught my eye, but when I saw the second post my interest faded. I have only commented because Mikop took so much of his own time to express a generally common feeling amongst the old timers here.
