Hey all, I have to start working on my recert of my CCNP. Does anyone know of a book geared towards the all in one test for recert CCNP.
Also if anyone could recommend books for the individual tests as well!!

Thanks in advance

I have both the Cisco Press and Sybex for 642-811 i would have to say that i like the cisco press better. Sybex just leaves to much out. Cisco press gives alot more and is a better book to refer back to. The rest of the books that i get to complete my ccnp will be from Cisco Press.

Thanks jbrooks, can you please be more specific. I have always used Cisco press and they have always proved to be very useful. I have the study guides for the older tests which i sat to get my CCNP. Now that my CCNP is about to expire i need to know what the books for the current tests are.The ISBN # on the back of the books, authors and titles would be of great help.

Thanks

642-811 Exam Certification Guide BY: David Hucaby
ISBN:1-58720-077-5

I think it's about 30$ at wal-mart or bookpool.com

For the routing portion of the exam, I like the Cisco Press CCNP Self-Study: Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) book by Catherine Paquet and Diane Teare. ISBN number is 1587050846. The book is from 1/2003, and is in my opinion much better than the latest Cisco Press book by Clare Gough, ISBN number 1587200856. Cisco doesn't have a really good book out for the 642-801 exam yet. The second edition of the self study series isn't due to be released until 4/2004, so you will need to search the Cisco site for basic IOS NAT documentation. The NAT portion of the exam is most likely pretty basic, so you may not need any additional information. Cisco also has nummerous documents on IPv6 available. It was covered fairly heavily on the CCDP exam, but I haven't seen too much commentary about it on the CCNP exams.

I also bought the CCNP BCMSN Exam Certification Guide (CCNP Self-Study) Second Edition by David Hucaby, ISBN number 1587200775. It is O.K., but not as well written as the BSCI book.

I had to take time off from my CCSP studies to recertify my own CCNP. I am taking the 642-891 tomorrow morning at 10:00.

Not specifically geared to the recert, but my bibles for ip routing are Doyle's Routing TCP/IP vol. 1 and vol. 2. Everyone should own a copy.

Right on Detour! I have both. I guess routing has not change much since I got my CCNP in 2001.I'll look over test topics to see what i need to brush up.
Thanks
