I have a DSL modem connected to a Cisco 2621 Router. I am going to have a firewall behind the router and the firewall is going to be performing NAT. Therefore the router will have the assigned ISP ip address on eth0 interface and a static IP assigned to me in eth1. I have several other static IPs assigned to me. I connect a laptop directly to the eth1 on the router. Eth0 is connected to the DSL modem. The pppoe configuration on the router seems to be working fine because I am picking up an IP address from my ISP. I check all of my interfaces and they say interface is up line protocol is up. I can even ping internet addresses from the router. But when I try to access the internet on the laptop, it says (this page cannot be displayed)
I cannot ping dns address nor IP addresses from the laptop. But when I ping DNS addresses or IP addresses from the router (CLI)it works fine.
Does anyone have any idea why the router seems to be connected to the internet but I cannot connect to the internet with my laptop.

Since you haven't set up NAT yet, what global unique address are you using on the laptop?

OK, here it is.
Cisco 2621 router with 2 ethernet int. Ethernet 0 is connected to the DSL modem. I have setup a dialer int with the IP address negotiated command. Ethernet 1 is connected to the laptop(crossover cable and I do get a link). Ethernet 1 IP address is 67.67.67.1.
The IP address of my laptop is 67.67.67.2 with the same subnet mask as the router and the default gateway being 67.67.67.1.

When I do a SHOW INTERFACE, all of my int are up, line protocol up. Even the Dialer int has gotten an IP address from my ISP.

From the CLI I ping yahoo.com and I get !!!!!
Successful. I also ping the DNS(ISP DNS) ip address and it works. On my laptop I have the same DNS configured and it does not work.

Oh I forgot, from the laptop I can ping both router interfaces, 67.67.67.1 on the router Eth1 and also the assigned IP address from the ISP (Dialer int)

OK, here it is. I have a Cisco 2621 with 2 ethernet interfaces. Interface eth0 is connected to a DSL modem. I also have a Dialer interface (IP address negotiated). Eth 1 has a static IP assigned by the ISP 67.67.67.1 which connects to my laptop via a cross-over cable (there is a link). My laptop's IP address is 67.67.67.2 also assigned by the ISP. Router and laptop both use the same subnet mask and the laptop's default gateway is 67.67.67.1.
When I do a (show interfaces), all of my interfaces say up, line protocol up. And the dialer int has an IP address assigned dynamically by the ISP.
From the CLI on the router I can ping dns addresses (yahoo.com) and also ip addresses(My ISP DNS addresses). The laptop can ping both router interfaces 67.67.67.1 and the dynamically assigned IP address on the Dialer interface. But I cannot ping outside anything, not even the ISP dns addresses. My laptop is configured with the ISP dns addresses.
