| I have a 10 meg LES circuit running between sites the telco say its running at 10FDX. The services is unreliable we get ping time outs The other problem is my switch will only work if i configure the port to Auto, if i set the port to 10FDX i get no link light,if i then look on the switch it says its connected at 10HDX. I dont understand why a speed set to FDX should sense to 10HDX any body have a surgestion
thanks

| It never hurts to verify you have a cable that's correctly wired. | |

| If you are talking about that new technology to telcos are just beginning to offer where you can get either 10 full or 10 half speeds over relatively long distances, I think we call it TLS in the states. We have it on order for several sites but it is not installed yet.
As I understand it, the LEC provides some sort of box at your demarc that gives you an ethernet connection and I gather that is where you are connecting your switch.
The service can either be full or half duplex depending on what you pay for so for now lets not worry about your switch settings and concern ourselves with the reliablity issue by opening a ticket with the provider (I assume it is BT) and make them check the circuit while at the same time getting them to verify the provisioning is set for full duplex thru the circuit.
