Hello every one
Here is my first post to this board, but I have been reading this board for some time now. I am a ccna, mcp, a+ certified, moving on to ccnp and WLAN, I am starting my ccnp journey with the remote access exam (almost half way). and leaving the giant routing for last . What i am looking for now is the matrial for the WLAN exam, and would like to hear from any one out there his/her experience with this exam.

Is there some reason that you are starting with remote access?? Just saying this hopefully to save you some work later on. There is a degree of redundancy from BSCI into the other exams such as BRAN. A strong understanding of the core router concepts will make the rest of the exams go much smoother.

Just a suggestion

Hi,
thank you for your reply. B4 I select my first exam I printed out the objective for the four exams to check for redundancy, my conclusion was there is no much of redundancy (I might be wrong).
You are right about mastering the basic concepts of routers and routing b4 going the ccnp route, the CCNA objectives do a very good job covering the basic concepts, i also think that the troubleshooting exam has to be done b4 the routing other wise it might be a bit harder to pass it, so I decided to go for remote access, switching, routing then troubleshooting.

I think the route you are taking is good i.e. taking the two easy exams first, and leaving the hardest till last.

The order in which I took my exams were:

Switching
Remote Access
CCDA
Support
CID
Routing

I would do it again like that if I had to go back.

Cheers,

Hi All,

The issue of CCNP exams order is an interesting one. It may actually depend on one's experience - but I am following this order and I doubt whether I could change it!

Routing (DONE)
Remote (DONE)
CID (Next - a New version soon!)
Switching
Support

It must be difficult doing Remote and CID if one has not done Routing!

Cheers!

There are literally tons of threads on this and what is the best way to do it. After reading and posting to most, the conclusions usually ended up that everyone agreed to take routing first (well, everything deals with routing to some point, reduced redundancy). The CCNA is nowhere near the detail that you will get from the BSCI that gives you the knowledge for L4, RAS, and Support. From experience, there is an expectation that you understand the core BSCI skills before RAS, Switching, and Support.

Switching is the big hump, very difficult since the equipment is expensive to get your hands on in a lab for L4 switching so everything is book which is where everyone decided to veer off on different paths. Get the pain over with fast or keep it going??

The exams were designed to go Routing, Switching, RAS, then Support.

So from that, everyone also agreed that Support should be the last, it is a culmination of all the other exams troubleshooting sections (you can get this from reading the study guid).

That being said, the most 'agreed' upon order usually is -

Routing
Switching or RAS
Support

These are all opinions and for me RAS was the most difficult of all the tests to prepare for, tons of commands to remeber, very few concepts.

Hope that helps and good luck with whichever path you choose to take.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I meant Cisco's WLAN. I couldn't find any matrial that is specific to this exam, please if you have any useful links with info relevant to the exam let me know.
Thanks
