Hi Cisco gurus 'round the world !

In studying for my 640-901 BSCI, I came across this cool bit 'o info:

http://www.tele.sunyit.edu/welcher/ospf2.pdf

This is a great link to help understand the area range statements for OSPF ABRs and has an awesome way to figure out the wildcard associated with the summarization.

A gold nugget for the self-teacher !

PEACE!@

she makes easy things seem hard and when things do get hard she gets vague.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link, great OSPF information.

Ideal for those new to CCNA.

since your profile indicates you haven't done CCNA yet, OSPF per se is not covered on that exam. Summarization is lightly brushed in CCNA. Read Wendell Odom's pages on it if you can. They're only a couple of pages but read them carefully, they're excellent prep for OSPF.

RIP summarization is fairly straightforward and basically automatic. As long as you don't have discontiguous networks you can just let it do its thing and not worry about it. But in multi area OSPF all of a sudden it's you who have to configure who gets summarized and how much.

Now as for BSCI, where's the good study resources on IS-IS? I found the cisco site on it, anything else???

marathoner,
Hey, how about not bogarting the good link on IS-IS? Some of us are still studying for CCNP routing and would like any useful links we can get. Thanks in advance.

As a newbee to Cisco (Well I have a few years experience but nothing close to you guys) that link is fantastic, thanks Mikop that's the next year taken up and beyond.

Superb link, anyone new to Cisco should bookmark mikop's link.

that's a new word for me but from the context I gather that it means hold out.

in another life I'm a database administrator and we don't like to duplicate info. This forum is not a database This forum is not a database. Well, actually it is... but..... THIS FORUM IS NOT A DATABASE

Some IS-IS links were posted a few days back in the thread about retiring the 640-?03 routing exam.

aside from the is-is authentication link already posted, here are some more:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/73...ting/isis.shtml

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td...0t5/ismarea.htm

And an excellent summarization exercise
was also posted here but bears repeating:

OK, can I have a cookie now?

Marathoner,
You are correct on the meaning of bogarting. And thank you for not doing so. I have added the links to my favorites for easy recall, since I am now studying for my CCNP routing exam. Thanks. I'm afraid I don't have an actual cookie to give, but how about a virtual cookie?
