Which IOS for CCNP?
|
|
|
| Hi Guys,
Just wondering which IOS Version I should be using for my CCNP studies? There seem to have been a lot of little changes to the CCNP exams recently so I thought I would I check on this.
I've tried searching Cisco for this but cannot find it in the exam doco
Thanks,

| This all depends on your hardware resources (i.e. Flash and DRAM). For instance, the enterprise edition would require more memory and flash than say just IP. I would suggest using at least version 12.0 IP. | |

| Hi DrWatsonJr,
I''ve mostly got smaller routers and I have a couple of 16Meg flash cards and I'm working on finding some dram that works with my 1000 and 1600's. So hopefully resources won't be a problem.
But I seem to remember reading somewhere that the CCNP exams were based on a certain IOS version.
Does anyone know if this is correct or should I just go for a 12.1.x Enterprise and leave it at that!

| Hello,
I've always thought that the exams were based on the 'latest' (main) IOS version...
but keep in mind that a new version of IOS may take some time to be reflected into the exam questions.
I'd say that if you knew the commands from the main version of IOS 12 then you'd be mostly on the right track. That's what I used but I passed my last exam in February and things may have moved on a little since then.

| as far as i know they don't recommend
an ios for ccna or ccnp i'd stick with
what's currently being tested in the lab. | |

| Thanks guys,
I took your advice and went for 12.1's all round.
