| Quick question for you CCNP fellas. I searched the forum but couldnt find alot of info. Im currently studying for CCNA and have decided to invest in a home lab since I will be going for my CCNP soon(hopefully I want to get some equipment that will be useful for the CCNP as well as CCNA. 2501 seems to be the router most CCNA hopefuls purchase. Should I do that or instead get a 2503 for ISDN in CCNP? Any other options? For CCNA I might only have one router to fool with - cash flow isnt so great I figure even 1 router for hands on is good along with simulators. Anyway, I just want something that can be used for CCNA as well as CCNP. Thanks for the help!

| 2 2501's and a dte/dce xover are a great start.
will carry you through ccnp and start your ccie lab. a ccie lab will cost you 3-5k depending on
what you'll settle for but you'll get much more in the long run.
if you want some ideas try
networkhardware.com
optsys.net
or look at ccprep.com
lab setup guide. | |

| thanks for the reply. So i should get 2501's instead of a 2501 and 2503 or something? In other words, pass on the 2503?

| try having 2x 2503s for isdn and a 2501. Also you might need a 2924 and/or a 2948G switch. | |

| Hi,
I recently purchased a 2520 (great flexibility)and have a question about the token ring media filter by synoptics. What advantage does the filter give me other than converting the DB9 token ring connector to a RJ45? I purchased the 2502 for only $162 and know that the seller has another one for about the same price if anyone is interested.
I know that I will have to pick up a 2503 sometime soon to do isdn correctly, but am still looking for a good ebay price.
One last question. Does anyone know were to purchase a isdn simulator for a reasonable amount. ex. $500 or less, pref less?
Thanks and good tech. learning days. | |

| here are couple of places where you get some good queality isdsn sims other than the ebay.
Look for the teltone or slimline makes. You need to put ot less than $800 for a decent model.
