Author Router for interVLAN routing

I've been looking for a router that would do interVLAN routing for the home lab and came across the 1710. Has anyone used one of these? Looks like it's primarily a perimeter security router. I already have PIX for firewall so really don't need 1710 for security. I'm just trying to build up home lab for CCNP study. Was looking at 1710 because it is cheaper than 1751 or 2621.

Although I have never used a 1700 series router, mostly I've been on 2500 and 2600s, I would imagine that the the router you found would work for inter VLAN routing as long as the IOS supports ISL. If it doesn't, the next step would be to locate a IOS image to update the router.

Good luck

Go to the Cisco site and look for the router features make sure the switch is trunk capable. If it is ISL your other equipment must also be Cisco
