Hello everyone,

I require your help.
Can you let me know how to know the ip address of the sender of a email ?
I normally use internet explorer browser.
Please tell assuming that I don't use outlookexpress or any unix based browser.

(I know that it is possible to get the senders ip address if we use outlook express to download the mails. But since all the mail service providers does not give the provision of pop3 server, downloading the mails using outlook express will not be possible.)

thanks....sunder

So what do you use to view the emails? Most mail programs have an option to view the Message Header, which mail program do you use?

beenframed is right, u can set the "see message header" option on to get details from where the mail is coming.

also, what email service r u using? it depends on the email service u take for e.g yahoo or hotmail etc etc.

if u use hotmail u can activate this in the advanced options for this feature

Thank you Mr javid and Mr beenframed for you
help.
Yes I have seen that it is possible in hotmail by setting the message header as full i am able to get the ip address of the sender.
But I am using rediff.com email service.
I checked up the rediff.com service, it looks they does'nt have any provision to set the message heading options.
When I am seeing sourse of the message ( I am
using the internet explorer as browser) i could see all the code. Is there any possibility to set our own code on that. What i mean is, if we add the code for the
setting to get the complete message header,
i feel it is possible to get the ip address of the sender irrespective of the email service provider we use.
kindly let me know the possiblility and we possible what the code should be.
Thanks....sunder

ok mate,

firstly u will need to contact rediff for help regarding this issue. i heard rediff service is crap by the way, so maybe u may want to switchover to another a/c.

also, why do u need the ip address. i assume u want to trace some1. how will u go about once u get the ip, am just curious.

regarding the way rediff works, sorry i have never used it.....i'd rather be safe than sorry.

You may want to look at:
www.visualware.com. eMailTrackerPro analyzes the e-mail header and provides you with the IP Address of the machine that sent you the e-mail. They also have a neat utility called VisuaRoute.. A visual Traceroute.. Really cool if you want to not only see the hops, but the geaographical map as well.....

Hope this helps...

thank you mr javad and mr samir.
i am finding that even visualware is accepting the headers to be provided from outlook sort of software's.
I tried but taking the header directly from the email i have got. For this the visualware is saying no header's received.
But one thing good with visualware software is that it is giving good information about how to trace the email sender.
Javad hope you have seen the visualware.com
site. It is quite informative
Thank you mr samir for giving information about visualware.
If any more information is available kindly provide me.
Thanks.....sunder
