I'd like information also on the format, and TYPES of questions. But asking for SPECIFIC questions is just not cool.

No.

This is forum has not discussed Cisco's questions and answers. Cisco has a VERY strict non-disclosure clause about that very thing. Very briefly: if you disclose test material Cisco will remove your certification(s). People worked extremely hard to obtain their credentials, they will not blow it.

If you have a question about; studies, theory, or application, etc. Great. You'll probably get an earful.

CahillRobert,

Well said. Thanks. Guess I haven't been on enough lately. And these jerks who think that they can simply ask for the questions and answers really grate me. I work my tail off, and they want a free ride (and drive down our salaries).

Frankly, I wish there was a way to have them blackballed from the industry!

The really sad thing is that folks like this whine and complain that the tests are changed, but wonder why. Hmm, could THEY be the reason?

Tom,

I agree.

Personally, I am happy that Cisco is keeping that from happening. I don't believe it is right to memorize a set of ~ 120 questions and answers to pass an professional exam and then hold your head up and say "I know this subject".

After someone answers "YES" to Cisco's agreement and is foolish enough to disclose test information, they should be blackballed. Foolish to waste the time and effort.

What I find so funny and wonder about is how much time and effort these folks put into memorizing the questions and answers? I wonder if they put in say 25-50% more time and effort could they simply not study the material and LEARN the stuff.

Also, instead of asking what a specific question, why not just ask some general things so that they know what AREAS to target their studying on. In my case, I've been studying on and off for the CCNP for about a year now. (working full time and being a full time single parent isn't easy, and doesn't allow for much time to hit the books, equipment, etc) What I need right now is time to brush up on the material, then to go take the exam. My only fear is the differences between the old format (and material) and the new ones. (I have the "old" Cisco books)

The good thing in my case is that I have lots of experience and work in the field so I'm not trying to find a job now.

Tom,

I can only speak of the one 600 series exam I took. The books that you've been using are just as valid as the 500 series.

New questions apparently have been added covering the same material (I didn't take the test twice, so i don't know what was there previously).
Additionly I had a sim that was to configure a standard everyday situation (no tricks). So if you have been in production mode you should be fine. Just remember that there is NO "sho", or, "int" in Cisco's EXAM SIMULATION environment, and you need to use Cisco's methodology for your configuration.

I'm in a similiar boat as you, except I got laid-off a while ago. Now I have the time for studying but no funds for the equipment, books, tests, etc.

NOTES:
1. I recently took the CID exam. Cisco did remove some materials from the exam. It may be worth your time to investigate Cisco's Table of Contents for the exam you are interested in. Compare it to the book you are using and go from there. ( Spend more time with the kids then studying )
2. Recently Cisco recommended the BSCI routing course for the CCN/DP that was put together for the CCIP, it adds in IS-IS.
They are two different exams.

Cool thanks.

Sorry to here that you got laid off. That sucks. I wish someone would create a web site listing companies that lay off workers. Maybe if enough companies were on the list and people checked it first and REFUSED to work for companies that lay off employees they would stop the practice as a tool to cut payrolls to benefit profit line in the short term. (and they wonder why workers demanded as much as the could get during the '90's)

I agree. I spend a great deal of time with my son. If I could, I'd love to finish my Masters and then get a job teaching so I could spend the whole summer with him. But I make too much and teacher make too little. Oh well, gotta deal with the cards that we are given.

Keep studying and hopefully things will get better soon and new jobs will be created. Keep the material fresh, will always help you.
