| Keeping cost in mind I owuld get atleast two 1601 routers and one 2501. The 1601 have one eo and so port. The 2501 has two so,s1 and one e0. U can use a crossovers dce/dte cable to connect the three routers. U can also do framerealy and stuff with the serial connect setup with dte/dce. This might not be bad to start. Only get cisco ios routers. Don't get a crappy dsl router for home use. | |

| Hi,
For CCNP here is the list of what you need... I give the ebay prices also. At ebay look for the sellers with higher credit rating. Never a seller with a 0 or negative rating.
1x 2501 (US$250-300)
1x 2503 (Us$275-325)
1x 2520 (US$600-700)
1x 1924(optional) (Us$150-175)
1x 2924 (US$250)
For Cat 5000 go for the 2909 whcih has got the same OS as CAt 5K. This requirement becomes optional as CCIE labs going to replace these with Cat 3950s, you can consider going for a Simulator as well.
Also you need the following books are from Cisco press.
These are the bibles and the examination questions are compiled fro these books only. Whuile reading if you find anything highlighted or 'bold' you got a question there, beware! One additional information these are cut-n-paste of student's manual.
BSCN - Catherine Paquet & Dean Teare
BCMSN - Karen Web
BCRAN - Catherine Paquet
CIT/Support - Laura Chappel
All are from Cisco Press.
All these Router should have 16Mb DRAM & 16Mb Flash to run 12.0 IOS successfully. Token ring is not covered on the CCNP and sson to be removed from the all cisco curriculams. From November 1st no Token ring on CCIE labs!
Best of luck! | |

Now they just got to get rid of ipx/spx and the world will be sane again. :-)

| Nov. 4th Cisco will be removing the folowing from the CCIE Lab exam:
IGRP
Token Ring
Token Ring Switching
IPX
So I guess from your point of view the world be sane again.

| no,
not really
we still have dlsw+
although since it's based in ip connectivity
it's the most bearable of the necessary evils. |
