Hi all,

scored 801 today with Routing, not a big score but a pass is a pass!!

Anyway, I had the old version, as I signed at the end of May, so I can't give you any update on the new exam form.
Here the study material I have used:
-Cisco Press Exam Cert guide
-BCSN (McGraw-Hill)
-Routing (Sibex)
-Cisco IOS (O'Reilly)
-Boson exam Simulator
-CCO (don't forget ..you find the REAL stuff there and for free!!)
.....and I have 3 routers to play with!

I started reading the Cisco Press book, having a problem at the very beginning: the book is really complete and covers deeply the routing protocols, but it is not easy to read at the first time.
So, I purchased at my favorite store (Ebay) the Sibex book and I began my reading.
I have to agree with the comments left by of a lot of you guys, that book is not accurate, I should say poorly written (and PLEASE note that my English is kinda of broken....).
Few weeks ago, walking inside Barnes&Nobles store (my second perferred store) I was as usual looking at the bargain section (am I cheap??) and I found the BCSN McGraw-Hill book, bought it ($25), read it in less than one week and finally I was ready to go through the Cisco book.
I did not finish the Sibex at all.....
The McGrow-Hill is a 400 pages book, comes with the CD, it is easy to read, well written and accurate.
The Cisco book is much more detailed, but I found the McGraw-Hill very helpful when I had to review my material for the final preparation.

Play with your own router if you have one, or go with the router sim: you do not want to get stuck at the exam because you do not remember if the correct command is "bandwidth-percentage" or "bandwidth-percent".......these kind of errors takes you sadly away the same amount of points as the more complex scenario question.
At least it did work for me, no way to memorize the commands sequences simply reding a couple of cheat sheets!
I am using as a quick command reference the Cisco IOS (O'Reilly), which is very handy and really accurate. There is even a nice series of chapters explaining routing, policies, access list and so on.

I used the Boson exam simulator, it is a very good tool, the question database cover deeply all the possible topics and for each question there is an exhaustive explanation, not the same level of the Transcender tool.....but the price ($39) is not even close to the Transcender one ($149).

So, next one Switching........after a couple of week of vacation!!

Take care,
-Andrea

Wonderful news!

It's also interesting that the scheduled exam was in the old format.

Hmmm... I wonder if I schedule the CCIE written now.... Hmmm!
