One of my relative went to USA last year to apply job there . He was having 15+ years experience in Telecom and Networking fields . He spend around one year in New York by finding job but he could'nt get it . He has CCNP also . Now he came back here and started his old job (which is preety good as compare to mine) . I wana ask amercian people that in USA IT job market is dead or what or only in NY no jobs ? Because when you do a simple search on computerjobs.com or any oher job serach website you can find out thousands of companies are looking for professionals . But if you apply job somewhere no call back from the company ? So this means that these are just fake job postings or what ? Just need to know your views and ideas about this issue .

There is a few jobs, but there is way too many people looking for jobs. Most of the jobs I have applied for and actually got to talk to someone they are telling me they get about 400 - 600 resumes in the first week and if it is an entry level job then they get about 2000 - 3000 resumes the first day.

Is this true, 2000 - 3000 resumes the first day.I think this is highly exagerated here come on and think about it for yourself

I recently applied for a help desk position below at an accounting firm (not Big 5). IT was basically you are the IT guy for an office of 60. When I went on the interview the person said he received 700 resumes for the job in 2 weeks. This is in northern virginia. So for someone is a bigger metropolitan area to get 2000 resumes the first day is not far fetched. Add to the fact that this years graduates from colleges had almost no companies interview on campus and you have a lot of college kids and inexperienced people fighting for the jobs on the low end of the pole.

before the recession i worked myself up to a 95k job with just an MCSE, A+ and a little bit of experience. we're all technical, but may not have the marketing knowledge. my advice would be to do a search for "CCIE resume" and you'll find several CCIEs with resumes posted. in addition there are websites out there that will help you put together an impressive resume, don't be modest either, don't outright lie, but you can word things honestly in a way that makes you look really qualified. ive rewritten my resume a few dozen times. be sure to include a cover letter, and in today's economy you have to call and ask for the job. one thing ill be doing in 6 months when i get my CCIE is to call MIS directors out of a list i got. that's what the recruiters do, but calling directly will show some initiative and if they happen to be hiring you may be in luck. maybe just mention to the director that you'd like to forward him your resume. do a little research on the company you're calling, ask a LOT of questions, as if you were doing a report on their IT department. if you got the MIS guy talking 80% of the time you'll impress him, asking lots of questions shows that you do your homework and are probably a good troublshooter and planner. just my 2 cents. worked with a lot of recruiters and been in a lot of inteviews, and after getting nowhere in my first year after college i realized that it's because i was timid and lacked confidence and control in the interview. don't be afraid to take over the conversation by interviewing him, beleive me, it shows leadership, of course don't interupt and be respectful, but it'll do wonders for call backs.

This is indeed what I heard form 2 different HR persons from different companies. The next time you interview or talk to someone in HR about a recent entry level job just ask them.

If you consider school has just got out and Bootcamps and training centers around the country are pumping out a 100 newbies every day compounded with all the layoffs. It really doesn't surprise me.

I recently had a final-round interview for a sales engineering position in the Chicago area. The recruiter told me he'd received over 500 resumes. The ad for the position ran for 1 day on 1 job site.
