| Can anyone help, I am using cisco 3620 access router, a NM-1FE2W Network Module with One-Fast Ethernet and Two-WIC slots along with 2x wic-2t modules.
On the serial interfaces it sets 2000000 clockrate as default - however I want to remove this as I as I have ascom CSU/DSU's for the line...
When I do a s0/0 for the first interface and put the 'no clock rate'command I get the response:'FECPM PM doesn't support clock rate 0'
Can anyone help please? This might be a bit basic but it's got me stumped...

| If you have any cable connected to that interface unplug it.
Then remove any configuration from the interface. After everything is removed, shut down the interface and turn off the router for a few about a minute ( the time for it to reset).
Now connect the CSU/DSU, then turn on the router. After the router is ready, configure the interface.
I hope this helps. | |

| I have tried removing all config from the router & giving it a cold reboot already.
Are you saying that if I power on the router with the interface already connected to the CSU/DSU then it will not put the clockrate 2000000 on the interface?

| Oh yeah, I also used the initial configuration dialogue as a last resort - ont the serial int - chose DTE as opposed to DCE - saved to NVRam and rebooted.....it gave the correct output to the console ie. no clockrate - however once rebooted...same deal....
Has anyone got any ideas, I mean does the 3620 autosense for cable & if there is none then puts a clockrate in? If it does this then why can I specify either on a 1720?

| Monkeyboy,
The WIC-2T does not support clockrate as it doesn't have an integrated CSU/DSU.
The other thing is you meet the IOS minimum version requirement. So I'm wondering what is going on with the WIC.
I have used this WIC on a 2600 series but it didn't behave the way you are describing it, setting the clockrate by itself.
For the mean time try the link below and see if these documents could give you some help and if I find something else I'll post it.

| Thanks sukuvi & jods.
It seems like the old fecpm pm module actually does autodetect the CSU\DSU and remove the clockrate 2000000 command automatically..so that's that one solved - however..
I originally wanted to know how to remove the clockrate command on the serial int because I thought that it was this that was putting my line protocol down intermittently ['bout 10 times a minute]- over my serial line (no heavy load on the wan link with both ends set to hdlc & using ascom DCE's.)
I think it might be a clocking issue but can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks |
