| Hi all,
Flash Simulations added to New CCNP Exams
To maintain the high quality and market responsiveness of our certification exams, we will be announcing new CCNP certification exams on May 22, 2002.
The new CCNP exams will focus on testing a candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities instead of their ability to memorize facts. The new exams will only be available to a limited closed audience for two weeks and will go live to the public sometime around June 5, 2002.
Once the closed testing is completed, the new exams will replace the existing exams, in all countries except Japan. We will make an additional announcement to CLPs with a specific date. For the public launch, we will have an email announcement to our opt-in database, press release and Cisco training Web site updates. More inFORMation to follow.
Current Exam New Exam
Routing 640-503--> Routing 640-603
OR
BSCI exam 640-900--> BSCI exam 640-901
Switching 640-504--> Switching 640-604
Remote Access 640-505--> Remote Access640-605
Support 640-506--> Support 640-606
As with the CCNA exam, the Routing, BSCI, and Remote Access exams will be updated to include Flash simulations and drag and drop items as well as refreshed questions. The Switching and Support exams will have refreshed questions, but no simulations. The new CCNP exams are supported by the course objectives for the current recommended CCNP courses. Simulation bundles tintegrating the Routing, BSCI, and Remote Access courses using a similar process as was done in March for ICND and the CCNA simulations. Integration of the simulations into the courses is important to differentiate CLP training from the gray market as "the only source for Cisco developed simulations training to prepare for the CCNP exams with new simulation questions".
Current CCNPs are not required to take the new exams until they are up for recertification. The CCNP recertification exam will updated overtime as well.

| Hi jwu2,
I don't know where Suresh got his information. I am taking 505 this thurs. and have scheduled 506 fot June 20th. I find it irritating to hear this unverified information, considering that CISCO hasn't announced it yet. There are some of us that don't need the distraction of non verified information. Good luck on the 506 and let me know some strategy for the 20th.
Just a quick question, you said 60 % ISNDN, correct?
Good luck with 506.

| of course this is unverified also.......I think that as long as you scheduled your exam before the new exam rollout date you'll take the exam scheduled. it would be "bad buisnees" for cisco to change it after you already scheduled it. Rest assured that surely a company that size has no need to screw you out of a cert.
Besides the objectives have not changed and surely most people taking these exams have access to a router or at least a router sim.. If not, i suggets you re-think your certification track.
You can even go on ebay and buy a router for at least $150. that's the same price as a router sim. Relax and think this through. If you get all these certs without even touching a router, it can be done, but you have just devalued the cert. this is exactly what cisco is trying to avoid.

| Why do you you consider it a distraction?
I have heard the exact same thing Suresh has posted from a Trainer that works for Global Knowledge..
In the past Cisco has announced the date on the date to the public and if you have already scheduled your exam past the date they choose you get the new test. It really does not matter as the outline is not changing only the question pool and question format. I can remember the first time I saw a Drag and Drop question and at first I was caught off guard but then I realized it was actually easier then a multiple choice question as long as you knew the material. When cisco makes changes to the objectives they always give you plenty of warning...

| Hi Bill,
I asked the test center today and they said the test will be 604-606 if CISCO update before the day you take it. In other words, it will depends on when you take it , not depends on when you scheule it.
Anyhow, I think I will reschdule and take the test next Monday and that will be my last one for CCNP. Who knows, maybe in the new test they will add new material consider it doesn't make any sense to put much token ring in the test any more.
As for 505, ISDN is heavily tested but i don't think it's 60%, maybe 35- 40%. Solid understanding Frame relay, X25 ( yes there were about 10 questions on X25 for me ), PPP and NAT will help. And be sure to know those WAN connection types.
Good Luck ! | |

| Hey guys... I got a question about the new CCNP. It sounds like the new exams are coming out, but if we have only completed some of the exams for CCNP, do we have to retake the new exams? For example, I passed routing already, but still working on the rest of CCNP.. Once the new CCNP exams are launched, do I have to re-take the routing again?? Pleae let me know.
Thanks :-) | |

| well, I really hope we do not!! I only have CIT left and according to the past, when cisco changed the version of its tests, the old ones were still valid. | |

| I thought Cisco had already beta tested the 640-60x exams for CCNP and closed those as of March 18th? Any way if you exam is already scheduled that's the exam you will take, however, if you are just scheduling an exam you might get a new exam... but that also is unverified. | |

| I have received an email from Prometric, it says .... Support 2.0 (CIT) expiry date is 05/29/2003....
wow, 2003 ! That means we don't have to rush for our last paper isn't it?
Anyone receive this email as well? Please confirm.
