| Guys, do you know deep the exam goes deep with Access lists? Im a little weak in this area. Im having some problems with Reflexive access lists and also context-based access control. Are these covered extensively on the exam? Id like to concentrate on primarily standard and extended access lists, but if you guys think I need to concentrate more on the first ones, please let me know. | |

| From "my experience", I only had very basic questions in any exam regarding "access-lists". If you knew enough about them for your CCNA, I don't think you'll need to sweat yourself for any of the NP exams. That said, for work purposes, you should become very familiar with all aspects. So, it may not hurt to put some extra time in now. They have a lot of different parameters that aren't covered on any of the exams. But if you have a solid understanding of how they work, you'll be able to figure them out.

| I think there were no more than four questions related to access lists in all four NP exams I sat for. If you've got the concepts down at the CCNA level, that will probably be all you need for NP.
I was surprised there wasn't more about them. Maybe with other security measures out there now they are putting less emphasis on ACLs. They were heavily covered in ACRC five years ago.
O'Reilly has a new book out called "Cisco IOS Access Lists". It is very good. Buy it and study it after you get your NP. (Don't fill up valuable brain space with stuff you won't need for the test.)
Good luck. | |

| I agree with the other posters. The ACL questions I got were very basic. This is actually a disappointment to me since I use them ever day in my configs.. I would suggest to get you a good book that focuses on ACL's and learn them inside out. You will need them in the real world. | |

| I'm sure others here would agree with me. I think the Cisco web site is an excellent resource in preparing for certification. There are thousands of documents in both HTML and PDF format free for the taking. I use the site EVERY day for both work and study.
Here's a link to some documents on ACLs:

Here's a link to the main table of contents for Cisco Documentation:

Hope this helps,
