Author CCNP study material?

I have seen the CCNP certification library and i've seen the CCNP preparation library. I am curious as to which is better or if there's a big difference. Both are straight from Cisco and both have the 4 books as part of the library. Any thoughts?

The certification library are the actual course notes word for word, the prepguides are a condensed version.

I found the exam cert guides best, but always used the cert book first. The prep books are written by a different author and have different points of view, more questions and also a CD with a test engine.

Well I have found that there is quite a difference in pricing between the two. Since I'm a cheapskate I was considering going for the preparation library but don't want it to be a waste of time. Is it worth paying the extra bucks for the certification library?

I Highly recommend both if you are seriously wanting to learn the material and not just scrape by with passing the exams. If you are fairly new to Cisco networks then the Preparation Library is the starting point. The cert guides will be of great value after you learn all the basics.

If you are serious about working in the network field and claiming your CCNP on your resume then get the certification library and pass the tests but realize you have more to learn ( you always will). Once you pass the tests and find a way to get hands on experience ( job, home lab, rent a rack) you then are on your way. So get the cert library as you are looking for a purchase to help you with the certification first and be a reference later. The prep library is replicated through the cert library and CCO.

I do router configs at work so i'll be able to stay sharp with it and use the knowledge in a practical atmosphere. It sounds as if the certification library is the way to go but was wondering if the preparation library was a cheaper but still effective way to go.

I must say this about that. I wanted to buy the box set also but I found it to be very $$$$$ I was looking at amazon and I saw som people were selling used books. I took a look at the routing book and they had it for sale at $11.00 I was shocked because this is a $60 book at the book store I think Amazon also sells it for $60 new. The comment beside the book said it was brand new never used so I bought it. When I got the book it was in perfect shap so I bought the rest of the books from there and they have all been fine. I got four books for the price of about 1 book.
