Hi everyone,

I got an email from some site saying that the new CCNP are suppose to start July. Is that true. If not do you have a date of when it is suppose to start.

I heard something along those lines. I took the beta for switching back in Feb. and am awaiting the results.

Cisco has decided to include simulations on the tests, the same way that Novell and Microsoft have theirs but they will do it one test at a time till all the tests have simulations. They started with CCNA, which is now 640-607 instead of 640-507. If you registered to take the CCNA before 12 March then you would be able to take the 640-507 however if it is on or after that date then you have to take 640-607.
The next tests that will have simulations are likely to be the CCNP. I guess they will start with Routing and make their way up. When will it happen? We won't know until you try to register for a test.

Thanks for the info Xblackzerox. I haven't decided whether to wait for the new exam or not. It's kind of cool to be one of the first to pass the new exam but I may be ready to take it before the 21st of June.

Ralph,

Study OSPF and BGP (especially) and then EIGRP. You need 5 areas strong to pass, this is the key. Subnetting and the extended parts are easy, if you know the basics. Hit the protocols: OSPF and BGP HARD!! The CISCO PRESS BOOK is the tool you NEED. EXAM CRAM is NOT enough, beleive me I know !

Good Luck.

it isn't available on cisco's website. You would have to register to find out. (that is how I found out ). I passed the rest of the exams about a year ago then I decided to go back to school and finish my bachelor's and now, since I just graduated in april, I'll be taking the last exam on june 20th.
