| It is very difficult to get a job right now without any experience. The economy is a mess and there are plenty of experienced engineers out there. Try getting an internship or a jr. level position. I doubt if any company would let you touch there infrastructure equipement without some real world experience. | |

| I truly believe in my search for a better job there are jobs to be had for Cisco professionals.
I live in Las Vegas and attend many conventions and job fairs and am able to meet many people.
But, (there's always a but) I have noticed all the jobs that pay the type of salary I know I seek require one of two major components. Many people have those brand new certs but lack experience or some have experience and nothing on paper.
The requirement I see most is a BS in a related field. So if you have a degree and one respected cert or a degree and moderate experience you will get employed and compensated better than just having many certifications.
I think a business views a degree as the ability to finish a long term commitment, whereas a certification can be accomplished in some cases in two weeks.
So I am busting butt to finish my degree and still working on reading and doing labs towards the CCIE. I do believe that the pursuit of a cert can keep your eyes on the prompt and hands on the keys.
Good luck in your quest and I hope this helps. | |

| Did you says working on bsit cobby. That sounds like a uofp degree. Am I right? | |
|
| Actually I attend CCSN in NV and will finish my Telecommunications degree at Devry in AZ.
I had thought of going to UOPH but I do not have the discipline to finish a degree 100% distance ed. I need to get to class and lab a few times a week to maintain focus.
If you can do it UOPH works great, but you have to be the right type of person for that style of education.
Good Luck! | |
