,, choosing CCDA means you will be discovering and learning Cisco design principles. CCNP expands on your CCNA knowledge in MUCH gretaer depth.

Like I said, the choice is yours. Check out the Cisco web site under their certifications page and see what you need to do for each certification.

Good Luck

I did ccna, then started ccnp routing which I hope I would be able to take it early next month, then I am planning on doing switching, then I think it wont matter much which one should come after switching. Good luck

Is it worth doing CCDA .. or one shuld go for ccnp and then do one extra paper after that for the ccdp.

In any case how great is the CCDA value???

LordV

Can anyone suggest that if i do not have any router's etc to practise for the ccnp routing exam ... what router sim i may use for practise / any other suggestion?

CCDP takes 2 tests beyond CCNP
DCN and CID
As far as value that is subjective.
It is a good foundation though
studying for it will help prepare for higher level exams.

To get the CCDP you also need to have the CCDA, that's a prerequisite. From the Cisco Website:

CCDP Prerequisites

Valid CCNA and CCDA certifications.

IF your aren't too experienced with the Cisco product line or design issues - continue with the CCNP track. The CCDA/DP exams involve intensive case studies which touch on many of the topics covered in the CCNP track, but includes much more. Doing the CCNP first then CCDA/DP will help you much more during the studying period then doin the design then going back to the router/switch console exams. If you just passed your CCNA, go right into the routing then switching exams as they both just pick up where the CCNA left off, the remote access exam also deepens the understanding of topics needed for design.. Afterwords, you'll have a much easier time dealing with design issues and concepts. with the 4 CCNP exams out of the way, its not much work to apply the concepts to design for the DCN and CID exams.

As with most certifications, the final line is more $$$ and the CCDP will tack on a few as well as help you apply this knowledge to the workplace.
