Author Question about EProms and Jumpers

I just put 2 new EPROM's in my 2514.
How can you tell if they are in secure? I gently pushed down till they felt snug, I didnt want to risk it.
Also, how do you configure the jumpers to use them?
I am trying to upgrade my router to the newer IOS
