hello all!
I'm getting prepared for the Routing exam.
Does anyone know of a shareware/freeware network traffic generator? ... I have access to a few routers but would like to simulate some traffic across them ... any ideas?

thanks in advance!

With Enterprise IOS you can actually use ttcp and generate traffic between the routers themselves, but there's rather limited flexibility. On the opposite end of the spectrum is netcat. You can send any sort of tcp or udp traffic you like, but it's not exactly a breeze to use. It's traditionally a unix took, but I think you can get it on Windows now.
Those are the only thoughts I have anyway.

You can also set a determined number of ping fron one computer or router to another.
Another Idea is to set two tftp servers or FTP server and then exchange data at the same time to create your worst case e..

Good Luck.
