If you're starting from scratch, CNAP's the place to be... compared to the "boot camps" and 5-day official courses.

I haven't had the time or $$ to go for this. I think it's really good training. Lotsa expensive hardware to play with...like POTS/ISDN sims and high end MLS toys. Not to mention the routers they have...

I think semesters 5-8 cover more stuff than the official CCNP cert requirements, which can only be good.

But one drawback about the CNAP at where I'm @ is that each semester takes 3 months to complete (2 nights a week, guess it's more for working people). Which means you're looking at a year b4 you become NP.

If your CNAP offers a faster track, and you can afford it (in terms of time and $$) GO FOR IT!!

HTH and Best Wishes!!!

I took the cisco network academy program for my ccna and thought it was well worth the money. If anything, it helped me to understand the basic foundation and provided the tools (routers/switches) necessary to understand that foundation. I passed my ccna with a 953 and attributed the cnap for my preparation. The only additional resource I used was the cisco press Cisco CCNA Exam Certification Guide and CD to develop a better understanding of the actaul test.

I am just about through with semester five of the ccnp program. There are 50+ labs in this semester alone which means you will spend much more time in the lab enviroment. It's twice the amount of work from the ccna (semester 1-4) program. However, again I feel better prepared on the basic foundation.
