I need some advice. I have the Cisco Press book for BCRAN. All I can say about the book is BORING..BORING. I have read some boring books in the past but always managed to finish it. This book however, will not hold my attention. Whenever I try to read it, I am asleep in 20 minutes.

Can anyone recommend another book to use? This has been going on for a month and I have gotten no where.

Also, any insight on the test? I have already passed routing and switching portions. How does Remote Access compare?

I hate to agree with you but damn.......this book is the pits......at least with routing and switching, after the first pass you kinda gained intrest as time went on but this is the worst. I usually take one test per month but I'm on week five with this book and to no avail.....ughhhhhhhhh

I must be a right sad git - I reckon it's the most interesting Ciscopress book so far, I find it much easier reading than switching and routing - It could be because I can relate to the subject more, who knows...

No comments on the sad git comment.....

I found it a hard read as well. I finally went with the syngress/osborne Remote Access Study Guide. I thought this was a much easier read. Some say there are alot of errors. Just go and print the errata. The other way I used it was to read the syngress book(the blue and read one) and any thing that I found questionable, I turned to the Ciscopress book for reference.

The the BCRAN course book, though dry, very helpful for the actual exam. Many of the Q's are based on the wording in that book.

In the Exam Guide for Remote Access, there was a small attempt at humor where Cisco made a crack about Microsoft copyrighting an encryption method.

It's tech stuff people - not Stephen King. If you are falling asleep, might I suggest a cup of Starbucks coffee Double tall double shot espresso ?

Cheers,

Just put up with it. It's as dry as the Mohave, but you just have to suck it up cuz it's a good book. Get through it and you won't have to worry about it anymore.
