| Hello,
I started working for this company in March 1999, had a Cisco Routers and LAN Switches course in June and passed the CCNA in July, then left Cisco alone for a while. In November and December 1999 I was studying our new PABX, attending training courses, etc.
For the next year I was just catching up on all of the 'basic' things that we need to know to be able to do our job. Getting experience of day to day things around a Cisco network. Fortuantely at that time I had an experienced manager to learn from.
He left in February 2001 and as he wasn't replaced I became the only network engineer in the company...
I was more than a little concerned about my ability to run the network for some months after that, but I've managed to get by...
I started on the CCNP track in December 2000. Read the routing book twice and took the exam in May 2001. From then on it was an exam every three months or so and I completed the track about three weeks ago.
I'd never seen a router (or even a big hub) before I joined this company so it's been a great learning experience. Obviously if you have more experince than I had then you'll be able to take each exam quicker than I did.
Regards

| Letss seee after achieving my CCNA I took about 4 months off before I started my CCNP track. I stared my ccnp in december 2000 and completed the track by June 2001. I usually prepared for about a month 1/2 for each exam with taking 2 weeks break between exams to let the brain rest......currently working on IE written which I plan on taking in a few weeks.. After a long break...... | |
