Hello all!!

I am working for a carrier company who uses ip network consisting of Cisco Routers to transport voice calls. The company deals mainly with pre-paid calling cards. The customer buys the card and dials a toll free no. to make a voice call or makes a call thro a dialer program(Installed on the pc) which sends the calls thro the ip network. When i make a call from a dialer on a pc which has a dialup connection, then absolutely there is no problem. But when I make a call from a pc which is on the Home LAN then only the destination party is able to hear my voice.I am not able to hear their voice. We r not using any firewalls as of now in the home but may go for it in the future.Nat has been configured on our home router and we hv a DSL connection to the ISP.I am not able to figure out the problem.can someone help me in identifying the problem

Thanx in advance..

Cheers

Need some more information on the connection to make any determinations. Are you directly connected to the DSL line with your computer or are you using a Linksys Router or some other NAT/PAT router?? If you are, do you have the configuration setup for a DMZ bastion host or forwarding the ports, if so which ports?

That and the information on the distant station you are trying to talk with. How are they connected. Need the whole picture since it should be working since you have it operation on dial-up.

Thanx depamo for ur reply

The pc is connected thro the Zyxel Router(Prestige 642R DSL router) and we hv not configured any bastion host.We hv a private static ip(192 series) configured for the router as well as for the pc's inside the LAN.These ip's r provided by the ISP.I suppose the NAT translation is done on the ISP end becoz there is no configuration for NAT in our Router.

Thro dialer program we send the calls to the Voice gateway which has a public ip(thro internet) and place the calls to the normal pstn phones or mobile. From the voice gateway the voice calls travel thro our private network and gets terminated in the pstn network

Hope this clarifies ur queries..

Cheers
