| I took the supprot exam yesterday and I missed it by 30 points. Is there anybody who can give me any tips or advice about the test? | |

| It's a difficult exam, the most difficult of all the CCNP/CCDP exams (but im not including BSCI here because thats the only one I have left to do to get both certs).
When I took it (first week of December) the pass mark was 776. I have heard they dropped that down to 755 just recently.
From what I understand, there has been a shift in the question pool for the exam. I know someone else who failed the exam and is afraid to take it. He is taking his other exams and leaving it till last. Is this your first CCNP exam? I would leave it till the very last if i were you.
Suggestions... I would read both Chappell's and Ranjbar's Cisco Press books for this test from front to back. I would also do a bit of digging around for some Microsoft material to become familiar with that portion of the exam. It's a bad-XXX exam, but you will bring it to its knees!
Cheers,

| hmmm... one other thing, looking at the certs you have, you don't seem to have an MCSE. Have you already taken all core exams? ... specifically networking infrastructure? You need to know about troubleshooting on the windows side for the Support exam, inclusive of Browser services etc... If I were you I would have finished that microsoft exam (i think its 216... unsure because i took the accelerated exam to get me from NT4 -> 2000). Well anyways, look on the microsoft web site.
But aside from that, you don't really need to take 216 to pass the Support exam. In that case you do however need to do some hard core study.
Best of luck!

| Thanks for your help. I will try these and hopefully I will be able to pass it. I already have the core exams for my MCSE and I am not sure which direction I want to go. Maybe you could give me some advice. | |

| Seeing you already have the core exams for MCSE, i would recommend you finish that. An MCSE has become somewhat of a norm these days, and you do want to atleast be with the norm, or above hey
Don't get too discouraged about Support. There is more to life than these exams
If I were you I would really put my head into those books and spend this Xmas reading over Support. I think this is your final CCNP exam, so just get it out of the way. Maybe sit it after the New Year. Well you would have to anyways because the prometric/vue testing centers will be closed from the 24th. Do nothing over xmas, just Support.
After that i would either 1) get into the Cisco design stream by just taking CCDA and CID... or 2) finish that MCSE. Well, from the two, an MCSE would be more valuable in the workforce, so maybe do that first. But you have to know they will change the Cisco design stream early next year. Thats why i did mine fast and completed the last design unit (CID) a few days ago.
Hope that helps.
Good luck with your studies!

| ... however if you feel confident enough, and you're able to get an exam booking on the 24th, and have plenty of time to cram, then maybe do that and sit it next week while its still fresh in your mind.
cheers,
