hey folks,

i am getting either dsl/cable and i am buying a pix 501 , a 2513 router with 1 ether 1 token 2 serials, and a 2501 with 1 ether 2 serials.

here is the lab setup

dsl/cable Linksys ether........> TO PIX ether...> Then i connect the other remaing ether slot in the pix to.......>e0 on 2501....Then I connect the s0 on the 2501 to the s0 on the 2513. I have one ether left on 2513 and i connect that to a Windows XP wks.

My question is this. can this setup work for me to run my home cisco lab. Can i just connect the last ether port to my xp or do i need to have a hub or switch.

another q that i have is which one of the devices the linksys or pix will handle dhcp..will there be a conflict?

do cisco routers have a dhcp client, if they do is it on by default?

thank you very much. I have been vert stressed and doing a lab building while doing my ccda.

You do not need the Linksys. just connect directly up to pix501.. Cable modem is easier to configure for this scenario, but DSL will work as well.

Cisco IOS supports both DHCP as a client and server. neither are on by default
