Author Who's taken CIT recently?

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to judge if I'm ready or not...

I usually spend about three months all in, reading the Ciscopress book twice, make revision notes the second time, then do a Boson and whatever other practice questions I can find around the net.

I run a small WAN and I've had the occassional problem to sort out but it's EIGRP only so my hands-on experience is limited.

So what sort of experience did you have before you took the CIT? How long did you spend studying? Do you think I may be ready for it?

I'll probably have to pay for this one myself and I'd hate to waste 105 pounds (Sterling)!

I'd also hate to put it off for several weeks and find I can't keep the subject matter 'fresh' in my mind...

Well just read the CIT book well . In that you will be interacting with show & debug commands don't leave even a single command from the book and about eigrp i did not got even a single question in the exam . And also study troubble shooting methods with the help of cisco website or CCO from the book . If you need any further help let us know . We will be glad to help you . Good luck.

hi Haseeb_eng,

done that, skimming through the book and reading odd bits that catch my eye now.

I usually feel a bit nervous before an exam but this one seems worse. Probably because it's the last one, there's a bit of extra pressure on me...

peterd,

Study time is different for everbody. For me I took CIT about 5 weeks after Routing(Routing took 3 months of study).

I studied the Support exam cert guide from cisco press for 4 of those weeks. The test draws on the other 3 exams. I didn't find anything unusual(as with all exams, read the questions carefully !). I do know that the exam cert guide was right on with the knowledge needed for the exam(the questions on the cd was decent). If you have access to the Support exam cert guide, peruse it and see where you stand.

The cert guide along with it's cd and some supplemental stuff from cisco's web site(very minor - mainly for my own curiosity) is all I used to prepare.

Hi ea,

I've got the Prep books rather than the Cert books so I don't have the 'guide'. Is it available on-line I wonder?

thanks

peter,

I don't have the prep book. So I can't comment on its content vs the exam. Although I'm sure it covers it quite well.

I'm sure that you can buy the exam cert guide online( amazon,bn etc) But, why not go to a bookstore and look through it. It's cheaper this way and you'll get a good feel for the need-to-knows on the exam.

Hi k3bab

i take my cit this afternoon. i've taken less time on this one and have relied more on practice exams than usual so i'll post a note later on whether this was a good tactic.

Hi,

buying them on the local market? :-)

I've just booked my CIT exam and paid by visa card. No idea what the cost is yet but as I said earlier, all of those that I booked through work on a Purchase Order system were around 105 pounds.

Dunno why, not my money so it doesn't matter.

The last one matters to me because it is my money but it's probably the last exam I'll be taking, unless I fail CIT or I feel really good about my chances after reading the CCDA book!

The £105 is with Sylvan Prometric, I've heard that somebody (could be VUE??) does it cheaper in the UK, but like Peter I don't pay the bills either and know the testing centre so like to go there every time.
