Yes! I passed BCRAN; and boy am I glad about that!
I knew I got the first 5 questions correct, after that, I thought it had all gone downhill for the first third of the exam. Towards the middle of the exam, I knew I had picked up again, but then I got some real stinkers.
The material I used was, Cisco press, Boson v3.3.3 and loads of hands-on experience from a previous contract.
There were 77 questions and 90 minutes. After the last question, I hid my eyes from the screen and then looked to see those magic words " Congratulations, you have passed".
No matter how many practice exams I took, the way Cisco word the questions for the real exam is different; make sure you READ and UNDERSTAND the question fully. Having said that, there were two or three questions that were NOT covered in the Cisco press material, hmm.
Celebrating now; catch y'all later.

This was my first CCNP exam.
I got a few shitty questions; like how do you configure a new dial-up connection with Windows 95, or, you just got a new T1 PRI and what interface cables do you order - DB15 crossover, or RJ48 straight, or EIA-232; like I need to know this or what? I am in the UK, I get a CAB-X21 or CAB-V35 depending on the serial line. In the USA you don't get a CSU/DSU as part of the serial line - in the UK and Europe, you do, so it's easy.
I got the exam report and the areas covered are:
#BCRAN Introduction
#Selecting Cisco products
#Assembling & Cabling for WAN components
#Config Async Connections
#Config PPP and PPP/CHAP
#Accessing Central Site with Win95
#Using ISDN & DDR to enhance remote connectivity
#optimizing DDR
#Using X25 for remote access
#Establishing dedicated Frame Relay and Traffic Flow Control
#Queueing and Compression
#NAT
#AAA
Was it tough? Well, like I said earlier, the way the real exam was worded was different from how ALL the test exams were. How many ways can you ask the same question? Cisco find another way to do it! READ & UNDERSTAND what they are asking.
Looking to do Routing next. My present network support contract enables me access to OSPF and BGP networks.
I feel another beer coming on, and a round of golf tomorrow.

| Congratulations!!
Good luck on the rest of them.
just one question - How long have you been preparing? | |
| Yeti-GBR1 2002-01-12, 1:50 pm |
| whooooo a Hippo that can Remotley connect to the Golf Circuit Cool. Excellent work...whats next on the agenda? Routing eh...well just make sure you keep us all informed.
So your in sunny ok Milton K. are you ...suppose a collaberation is well out of the question as I'm in not so sunny South Yorkshire Oh well.
Congrats again | |

FastIP - I've been working on this for about 6 months, however, I was out of contract for 3 months and busy trying to get another. This latest contract affords me the luxury of 12 hour shifts, 16 in total and only 3 of them are day shifts, so guess what I've been doing on nights for the last 6 weeks.
Yeti - South Yorkshire eh? Whereabouts, I have a friend in Barnsley. If we continue to use this forum, we can certainly collaberate that way. Incidentally, I failed to connect with the golf course this morning - too much celebration juice yesterday.
For anyone who wants to know, I scored 875/1000, which by my reckoning is about 64 questions correct out of 77.
Onwards and upwards. Routing next; I'm going to crack OSPF and BGP, then Switching.
Good luck y'all
