On Ebay you can get a 2501 with a 12.0 IOS and 16Meg RAM, 8Meg Flash for around $300.00 if you wait long enough.

A 2600 varies quite a bit based on which model and what types of modules it contains. Such as a 2610, built in 10Mb/s ethernet with no modules is about $600.00 with a 12.0 IOS and 8F/32R. Be sure to check the feature set out on the router IOS file name before purchasing, it can cost!!

Another 2600 Modular Router that is also popular is the 2620 or 2621. 2620 has a FE built in and the 2621 has two FE built in. The 2621 can go for $700.00 and the 2621 up to $1200.00. The rest of the modules are about the same.

As you populate the 2600 modules with WIC's or Modules, the price will jump depending on the functionality of the device.

As for the 3600 series, you can probably get a 3620 with 1 FE module for about $2000.00 but remeber that without any modules, these routers don't have any built-in capability.

A 3640 depending on the modules can flex between $2000.00 bare to over $4000.00 with some complex modules (SONET, ATM and such).

a 4K router price flexes even more then the 3640 but the bare base price is about $4000.00 depending on how it is presented.

All these prices are what I have seen on eBay as I have been watching for the past few months. With eBay there are some differences that make the price jump on routers. If you get it in the original box with all the original documentation, the price goes up about 20%. Higher RAM/Flash combinations and IOS on the system will also influence the price of the items.

Buying new, don't go there, you will at least save over 20% even if you get reamed on a purchase.

Just so you don't come back to get me on this later, I just want to mention a few things about eBay before you go there - check out a sellers background before purchasing, understand how to pay before bidding, shipping options, make sure that they are clear. In the end, make sure that the router is what you think that it is!! If you have any problems with purchasing, make sure that you let eBay know about it. In my own opinion, don't trust any sellers that only have one item for bid and have never sold anything before. Shipping will be screwed up, payment will be a mess, timeliness will be thrown to the wind and you will be lucky if you get your router in one piece. You can preempt this by calling or emailing and getting everything setup to your satisfaction prior to purchasing.

Wish I had seen the prices Depamo mentions but having been watching them daily for the last two months, I can tell you they are much higher. 2501s never go for under $400, usually closer to $450. 2610s go for $1000-1200 depending on WIC included. 2621s start at $1500.

As I have said in other posts you have to be careful about the RAM, FLASH and IOS (version and feature set) the seller advertises. I have seen many advertise IOS 12.X and have it be IP only (no IPX, AT etc...)

Go look and you'll see...

I actually got my 2610 about a month ago for $650.00 with shipping. If you don't care about the IOS or RAM on the 2501, you can actually get them if you watch long enough for down to $300.00 (saw 2 of these sell this low a couple of days ago). As for the 2621, you really just have to watch all of them. I was watching one that was selling for $1795.00 new in the box with the new FW IOS, waited. There are now 4 or 5 more in the queue that will go for under $1500.00 with very decent combinations. Just takes a lot of patience.

Just yesterday one of my 'Watching' routers was a 3640 that was bare, went for $1800.00, nobody wanted it. 3620's are really going fast for low prices.

They are all there, you just have to watch all the time. Really good deals don't last but a few minutes if they have low Buy-it-Now prices (How I got the 2610).

Go to EBay, search on "Cisco 2501" or whatever, and click "completed items." You'll see the final purchase prices on everything in the last 30 days or so.
