Hello everyone,

Is anyone is aware of any Examnotes or Studying notes on web (free) for 640-504 switching exam. I found many for while I was working for CCNA. So far I do not have any luck yet for switching exam.

Also anyone know any free download tests for switching exam as well. Thanks in Advance

I just finished it and found that the Course Companion sucks. Either they have changed the exam or the book is just dead wrong. I haven't been able to see if the Certification book is better or not but I would bet that it couldn't be any worse. Usually the best study material for the exams is the Cisco Press Certification Guide. The course companion is what you would get if you took the class. In theory they should both allow you to pass if you can take in the amount of material that they have but I am questioning that now.

Boson is still a pretty good prep exam set but it is getting a little behind the times.

The cert guide sucks too. I actually preferred the Karen Webb BCMSN book because it doesn't waste a whole chapter on ATM like the Cert Guide does; the BCMSN book acually says that there is no ATM on the test. Usually it's the Cert Guides that tell you that and the course books that pack in the extra information. I have enough books on ATM; I don't need an extra chapter on it in an exam guide when it's not on the test.

The information in the Course Companion in the area of ATM is reasonable for the exam. They only mention what will be on the test which is limited to understanding that there are provisions made for VLAN over ATM and FDDI and what their IEEE descriptions are. With reference to this, the Course Companion did cover enough to take the exam.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the feed back. I am preparing from the Todd Lemle's book. I really liked his CCNA book and vertual lab. I got mixed feed back about his switching book. I just ordered his newly released Virtual Lab for CCNP. I will let you guys know about that. I do not have any access for real switches and do not have extra $$$ while I am laid off from employment to spend on bootcamp. I still wonder anyone knows any free stuff for switching exam. I really really need some exam notes type thing. Please let me know. THanks

I know of some places you can get bargain discount prices on books in Houston, that or try eBay, will be very cheap there if you watch and wait. Don't know of anything for free that is worth it other then getting the information tested over from the Certification Site on the Cisco Page, and then delving into the Cisco Web Site to pull all the necessary documents to build your own book. Believe it or not it is all there, you just have to hunt for it. That or start spending your time in a Barnes and Noble book store reading there until they kick you out!! What the hell, you are laid off anyhow, nothing wrong with spending all day in a book store.

I've tested the link 3 times and it works every time... What's not working about it?

Yeah, Appleton is a great place to live. Very low crime, nice people, nice weather. Its not a huge city, but we have everything we need.

Strikeattack: My email address is "candidate123@hotmail.com" Please send me mail there. I will reply and try to get hold of you. I think I sent you an email in past to get advise. I will apprciate your help. By the way Cisco Girl is right, Your link is not working from me either. I tried few different times as well, NO Luck.

CISCOGirl: I would totally agree with Strike about Appleton WI. Nice area. But unfortunately this area is growing, not as grown like Tuscon AZ. So far I do not find any employer in the area who cares/pays more wage to one b.c of he/she has collage degree. I am not sure about other metropolitan areas, how employers differentiate hirees from collage digree to non-collage degree (with only experience) holders. Experience is good but hey I need some credit for the money I spent in collage. Well sorry I am jobless, lil depressed who is not getting many interviews with 4+ IT experience and most of my resumes are going in some black-hole. Any-way this place is perfect for 8 to 9 months. Few weeks are soooooooooo terribly cold. I will trade with you AZ to here.

Anyway, if anyone else knows anymore more site then pls let me know.

Regards,

Kamran

Strikeattack, I had trouble with your web link also, GeoCities gives you a link not available error, but I tried it without the .doc file extension and it works fine for me then.

Steve_NTS,

Thanks for the help. I opened a small account with them just for that file and didn't have time to figure it out... Although, I am still wondering why it does not like the extension since the file certainly DOES have an extension...

Well, anyway, thanks!

I have never used them before, so I cannot say anything about the quality of their material. I can, however, provide the link.
