| I would like to be a CCNP next years, but my boss doesn't want to send me in a training center like globalknowledge; he said it's too expensive. So I decide to pass it my self. I would like to know if some people pass the 4 exam without taking course in training center. could you give me some advices on the book and material I need, what exam are more difficult and need more work. How to proced ?
thanks a lot in advance.

| Definately possible.
Many people will suggest the books by Ciscopress. I would suggest that you go to a book store and read different topics from each that you may be interested in. This way you can examine the writing style of the authors and see if this is palatable to you. I have you books by ciscopress, sybex, osborne, and syngress. No matter what book you get, check for the errata from the publisher.
You also need some hands-on experience. If you don't have anything available to you, there are several different places that you can rent time on a rack. You can even check for a Cisco office in your area. Sometimes they will have a lab that you can get some time in.
Beyond all else, study hard! Learn the material for a lifetime, not to just pass a test.

| Hi,
yes I'll go along with that, I have the same problem. Although my boss is paying for the exams so it's not so bad, it just cost me UK125 (Sterling) for the Ciscopress books.
I would suggest getting the Ciscopress and then searching around the net for tutorials, there's so much information out there that's free.
There are also sites that allow you time on routers and switches for free!
Regards
