DTE cable conversion

| Dumb question? Does anyone know if there is a way to convert a DTE to a DCE cable. The DCE cable that I have is bad, and I don't have another. Got several DTE. so I was wondering if there is some kind of adapter out there.

| I'm pretty sure that there is a way of creating an adaptor with two female 25 pin connectors that can sit between two X21 DTE cables.
It would need to be cross wired in order to convert one of the cables to DCE. You could possibly do the same thing by butchering the 25 pin end of a X21-MT(DTE) cable & rewiring it with a new DB60 connector to make a crossover cable.
Some of the pinouts are available on Cisco's web site but in the long run it is probably better to just buy a DCE or x-over cable.

| Hi Guys,
see an earlier reply...
basically the DCE and DTE have some differences in the 60 pin plugs, one or two wires are on different pins.
The relevant pin-outs are available on Cisco's site, but it's not an easy fix, the wires are somewhere in the middle of the plug.
