Using Cisco Press (Paquet) book for 640-503 study.
Looking for some additional materials to supplement as nothing comes with the book. (I used the Sybex books for other tests but heard 503 book is full of errors and not up to par)
Any tips on good practice exams or flashcard like exercises?

I used the CDs that came with the various exam cert guides by Cisco press. I found them to be adequate. I'm also supplementing my studies with TCP/IP routing vol 1 and 2.

If you search on the web there are some sites that have free practice exams that you can take. I think most forum members would recommend boson for test questions.

Hi ea,

I've seen several references to 'free CD's' with the books...

I didn't get any.

Are they only available with the individual books? I bought the library pack of four books and I wonder if that's why they weren't included.

Also, would they only be available in the US, as I'm in the UK?

If you bought the Prep Library (Chappell, Paquet, Webb, & Teare)you wouldn't have gotten any cd's with the set. If you bought the Certification Library (I don't know the authors of those) you would have gotten cd's with those books. I don't think it matters if you buy individual books or sets or if you live in the US or not. I believe the Prep Library (that's the one I bought) is the one that is used in "official" Cisco classes.

There's just way too much info out there. Don't get bogged down. Cisco Press is really good and the tests follow pretty well and a few questions came right out of the pages.

Then a practice test is a good thing to use as you approach rediness. Bosun can be very good depending on your mix of questions on the test, as can Exam Passer.

I wouldn't spend anymore money than that. Use lots of free resources, too.

Hi,

yes, I've got the Prep Library. We're getting used to being ripped off in the UK, we pay far more for the books than you guys do and if there's any 'extras' then they're usually missing!

I agree with the idea of looking for free stuff, there's tons of it on the net. And Boson has helped a lot in both of the exams that I've taken so far.

Stick to the stuff you get on the Internet I guess! Get the Internet access study guides. Unless they charge you more for that, too. And free can't cost more, can it?
