The now-available Building Cisco Scalable Internetworks (BSCI) training recommended for CCIP preparation may also be considered as an alternative to the Building Cisco Scalable Networks (BSCN) course for CCNP and CCDP preparation

I don't like the sound of that. Went through the course summary and the only difference is that you have to know IS-IS on top of BSCN topics.

On the other hand, it will be pretty easy to get a CCIP for cabeling, security looks like a pain in the rear.

Still, the certification doesn't have the complexity of the CCNP, no switching, RAS or other core functions of enterprise networks. Don't think that the CCNP is in danger...............yet.

Hopfully someone from Cisco is watching and might be able to let us in on what the heck is going on???

I was at the cisco booth at supercomm in ATL when the CCIP track was introduced and the literature that was available there stated that it (CCIP) was specifically designed for people in the telecommunications industry. It seemed to cover things, such as SLAs, that ccnp really doesn't cover.

Happy that someone said something like that. It just didn't make any sense to have that cert with such weird requirements (no switching or RAS).

Good to hear that Cisco isn't going to blow a fuze and drop the CCNP, been quite a few posts around here with that. Most I think were just people trying to sell cheat material for the exams.
