| Hi all!!
I hv got a query reg. VTP advertisement.What info does VTP server send in its advertisement to other switches.Iam not clear about the explanation given in the book.can someone try to explain that ?
My next query is if the switch port is in blocking state will it send & recieve BPDU's or just recieve BPDU .Can someone clarify this?
What is the best book available on the switching ,which will cover in depth abt switching concepts & also will be easy to follow.

There are three types of VTP advertisements :
Advertisement requests from clients - requesting VLAN info from the server.
Subset Advetisement - Detailed info on VLAN's basically everything the devices need to know, all vlan no's and names etc, management domain name (must be configures on all switches in VTP domain) and the configuration revision.
Summary advertisements - sent by server every 300 Seconds on VLAN 1 or whenever there is a change.
The Cisco press BCMSN is what I'm using - P110/111 for this info. I don't know if it's the best book though.
