| I have just finished with my CNT170 class and passed my CCNA on Monday. I am trying to decide the next path to take. Should I take my CCDA or CCNP. I have already purchassed the SYBEX books for the CCNP. Could you please let me know the best books for the CCNP and the CCDA as well. | |

| Hey drizzits,
I asked a very valid question not to be down played. Good job passing your cert but while you were in the forum you could of answered my question rather than saying "look its another idiot who doesn't look at the archived messages". That is the reason for new threads. Now could you please take a moment of your precious time and answer my question.

| Guys remember we are not here to fight we are to help each other.
I would go ahead and do the CCDA first and then finish the CCNP track. Consider going CCDP after that as well. As far as books go the Sybex book for CCNA is the best but after that I would say the Cisco press books are much better for NP, DA and DP tracks.

| I'm just saying the answer is already in here. And I will help you with my own experience. I should learn to spell but I will do that next time. First I thought the CCDA was the hardest test so far. But now that I'm almost done with the ccnp track I am happy I did it first. But I must reiterate that it is the hardest one I've taken so far. Very broad. No goodd book to study for it.

| In the end you will have to take another design test to become a CCDP, if you don't plan to take this, I wouldn't wast the time with the CCDA. The CCDA will be a bit of pain, much worse then the other CCNP tests that I have taken so far.
To put it into a better light, I studied for the CCDA for almost a month, I work with routers, and still found it challenging with it 'out of this world' scenarios. It is a very different approach and is a test of applied learning.
On the other hand, all the information I am going through again in the studying for the CCNP, actually made most of it really simple because it put the topics of the CCNP into perspective for real network solutions. Not to mention you have to almost memorize the Cisco products and their capabilities (most of my time was spent here) with respect to their solutions that they can be used for.
Some CCNP's have much more trouble with the test then the CCNA's, not exactly sure why but I do think that the information in the CCNP is geared in a completly different manner that doesn't really help you with this exam.
Well, that is my take on it, so good luck!! |
