Hi fellows:
I'm new to this forum and want to start studying for the BSCN exam. Could you guys recommend a really good book to study with?

Thanks a bunch,

Hi try this link.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...0656708-0027868

I also used the sybex book and found it useful as a supplement to the Cisco book.

I liked the Cisco Press BSCN book, you will probably find the book cheaper at bookpool.com than you will at Amazon. Like cmacron said, if you are having trouble understanding the BSCN book and you can afford it, the Sybex book makes a good primer; just don't rely on it for all of your information because it is lacking in content. Good luck!

I am using the BSCN book from the Cisco Press Cert Library.

The certification library is good, but I believe the preparation library is a little more in detail. It is more secure

Yes it is. But the Cert book is geared towards preparing you for the exam.

The Prep Library seems to be geared towards someone who's interested in learning the material in depth rather that just enough to pass the exam.....IMHO

I have tried a couple of them out and depending on the test you are taking, the books differ a little. For BSCN I used the Cisco Press Certification book and it is really bad around BGP and I had to augment it with TCP/IP CCIE reference Volume I. The course book seemed to be a little bit better in describing things but you have to remeber, there are two different authors!

For Switching, I almost got the Certification book again but luckly the book store only had the course companion. Later I found the certification book and there were some differences in the preperation information that it gave you. The certification book didn't say that LANE wasn't on the exam but the course companion book did. Now that is a little backwards. I am going to spend some time in the book store before Remote Access to review the two books to see which is better.

Good luck!!

Depamo,

Let me recommend you both books for the Bcran. The course book is good to learn the stuff (too much material though, in my opinion, but very knowledgeable), and the cert one is useful to review the stuff one week before the exam as it explains in a concise way all the stuff.

Regards.
