Hi all,
I am new in the forum, and have several problems need to be solved as soon, any idea is welcome, thanks.

1. I have several workstations attached to a cisco switch(Cat 29xx), when the workstation boot up, it will auto. login the workstation, and run a startup script to map a novell server. There is a problem that the workstation can't map the novell server which is attached in the same switch, but when I disable the startup script and run the script manually after the workstation bootup, it can map to novell server succesfully. I have also tried to speed up the switch port by enabling portfast feature and disable spantree in the switch, but the problem still the same. It is urgent to me, any idea is welcome to me to fix the problem, thanks.

2. I have also a 2600 cisco router, but there is no ipx function I can enable in the router, e.g. when I type in #ipx routing, it prompt me no such command, what is the problem, is ios not supported or others?

Seems like they are related. Make sure that when you do the ipx routing command that you are in config mode, otherwise it won't understand it.

Try that and we'll c if everything else is ok.

Hi,

also check that your IOS supports IPX, it could be IP only in which case you'll need to upgrade it.

Is ipx default supported in IOS? And how can I check it? by IOS version?

There are IOS versions for IP only and I suspect that is what you have on your router. If a command is not available it is not supported either by the hardware or the IOS (in your case IOS). The letters in the IOS version indicate what it supports.

thanks, and the ios version code of my 2600 router is C2600-IO3-M, how can I know that whether ipx is supported?

If what I remember is not wrong, the character "I" in your code name means IP only. So, that's why you cannot run IPX on your router. If you want to run IPX, you need desktop IOS version. Anyway, check CCO for sure.

Hope this help,

As for your first question, where are you running this script from? I would recommend a NetWare login script, either container, user, or profile. If you aren't using a NetWare login script, it is possible that your script is attempting to run before authentication is complete with the NetWare server. By using a NetWare login script, you know it won't attempt to run it until the user is authenticated.

Here is a list of the letters in the image name and what they mean for feature sets. I copied this from Cisco's site.

Hope it helps.
