Just pass switching test!

| The test is not scenario type. If you can survive in CCNA, you can pass this one.
-A lot of vlan and trunk link questions
-Few command line question (CGMP and MLS)
-No HSRF
-Basic multicast question (no command line)
-Sybex study guide is all you need

| Hi All,
You're right, this exam was much easier than the CCNA. I have done about a dozen MS exams and I think the CCNA was the hardest.
I am now going for the second of the four additional needed for the CCNP and I have been told that Switching was the easiest so that was the one I wrote first.
I would love to hear every ones opinion on the routing exam because that is the one I am studying now.

I studied routing for six months before I felt ready for the exam and TBH I thought it was easy...
but I probably over-prepared and these things always look easy once you've done them.
I've had about ten weeks on switching, just about ready for the exam but I keep saying it's 'about two weeks away'...
the more I read about the switching exam the less I fancy my chanes of scraping even a bare minimum pass. I'd just like to get this one over with and get on to remote access...

| I took CCNA v2 on last September and the passing score is 822 on my report.
I took the switching test two days ago, the passing score is 699.
Does CISCO make their tests easier? May be they use their certification as marketing tools. Microsoft is doing the same thing successfully.
I am not sure. Any ideas. | |

supposedly harder subject, harder questions, lower passing score...
having said that, some people do fail. If they were just after the money then the passing score would be much lower, say 450...

Do you mean remote access is harder or easier than the others?
Peterd, the Switching exam isn't that bad. They say you need to know what switch works where and that's true but they are numbered logically so that makes it simple, really. The lower the number the lower the capacity so it doesn't take long to figure out what is needed where.
VLAN's, trunking, multicast. Those are the biggies on this one.

I found that the Remote Access was easier than the switching exam. I didn't think the switching exam was hard though.

| In my openion, the easiest one is routing, follow by remote access, support. And the toughest one is switching !!
It depends on in which subject you have an experience.. | |

| I just finished the Switching exam and it was a required score of 699. I scored 814 but it didn't come easy. Numerous text sources, practice tests and actually hands on experience all came into play. I had numerous questions about the LED's on the switches. Blinking green, amber and so on. I would have to say that this was definitely harder than the CCNA in my own opinion just because I flew through the CCNA in about 40 min whereas Switching took me 1hour and 7 min. Also, HSRP & ATM were not on my exam at all. Hope any of this helps. |
