| I have emulation programs every where but still nothing
1. It could be the cable
2. it could be the config on my PC
to resolve # 2
I opened direct cable connection
should I use this program?
I have not used it yet
because it said "you must use the same type of ports on both devices"
PC serial converts to rj, that plugs into the switch console port -
I am not sure if I should activate this
I have 2 serial connections
thinking on activating this on COM 2 and see what happens
your advice would be appreciated
ciao chuckster
( both devices are currently working and no conflicts) according to the device mangager
does any one know?
thanks | |

| Wrong program to use.
Are you getting anything when you try to console to the router? Have you changed your adapter?
You may need to check the setting of the port. Just right click on the "My computer" icon. Select the Device Manager tab. Then find the port you are using and check the setting here. Make sure there is no flow control set. I have seen this present garbled information on hyperterm when there is a conflict between windows and your terminal emulation software.

| Be sure your port setting matches your manual....What you list is standard.
VT 100, I use only for telneting.
Auto Detect with roll over cable to PC.
Terminal Key I believe is correct.
In my situation problem was roller over cable ....then Win 2000 so I change OS.
115200 8-n-1 ....????... | |
