To let you all know, you can check out my other postings and can see that personally, I don't endorse anything. Lately I have been hearing people talk about which book is best for which exam and money being tight so here is a solution from me to all of you. I really didn't want to let the cat out of the bag but more and more people are finding out about it all the time so here it is.

Currently I have Boson, Cisco, and Sybex books for CCNP, each cost me $5.00 per book. No catch, no clubs or other crud this is just a store that I found in Houston that is part of a new Texas chain called 75% Off Books. All their books are $5.00 no matter what they are and they are all brand new. How do they do it?? I don't know and I don't care but what I do care about is that now I have brand new Boson books for all the CCNP tests and Cisco press books also for the price of just one book from another store.

Some other books that I now have each at $5.00 include - CCIE Fundamentals: Network Design and Case Studies Second Edition, IP routing Fundabmentals, Internetworking Technology Handbook, Cisco IOS 12.0 Internetworking Applications, and many more. Each was $5.00. I also have tons of MCSE 2K, NT 4 and MCDBA books.

I don't care if you believe me or not because it is not to my advantage that you all know about these stores as they get books in shipments and the more people that know, the less I have to choose from when I show up. I don't own a store or have any interests in it. I just found it to be a great deal that would really help everyone to get the books they need to get their certs or build their library.

If you are interested and it looks like they are in Texas only, check out their site at

http://www.75offbooks.com

and their are maps to where their stores are located. Good luck and hope that you all can get what you need.

The site doesn't list the Houston store at Westheimer just past the outer toll road loop on the West side. Just behind Houstons at the Corner of Wilcrest and Westheimer, can't miss it, big sign out front. Remeber that they get books in shipments. I go every Saturday to 'check it out' and have had tremendous success in getting what I need.

I don't blame you - I'd be there too if I lived in Texas. It's a loong drive from Tucson though and I don't think they sell online, do they?

No they don't sell on the internet. I tried to change the heading. I never saw the web site before and they told me that they were a chain. Seems that they are only in Texas but the idea is spreading. Seems that they buy bulk books at pennis on the dollar so big book stores can at least get something. Although they are a little oldera at times, they had up to date CCNA books (new version 2 exam kit) and MCSE 2K books.

As for Tucson, I went to college there. Got my Computer Engineering degree from the U of A. My parents are still there and I am actually looking for a job now so I can move back. Much better there then here. With all the hurricanes and stuff, I am just ready to leave.

So stay on the lookout and maby one is already in your town!!

So, are you starting this thread as an indirect invitation to pick up some books for us if we send you money orders? ;-)

I will help my fellows out there but for my time, I will charge $2.00,per book, you pay postage. The skippy is, that what was $50 for a book (Brand new) is 5 bucks per book, truly amazing. There are all types of books C++, Visual Basic, Microsoft this that and the other, my God, there are many covering all disciplines. At this time, there where no Cisco books but there will be some soon. Let me know what yall think.
PS
I just bought a Cat 1900 12 port switch for 100 dollars
Part two
While I was at the 75% book store, I met what I would consider a Einstein of Cisco. He was wearing a Cisco engineering shirt, thats how I knew to start probbing, and we talked for an hour or so, he was really nice, rather eccentric , but cool chap.He has the world of Cisco knowledge. I guess every one needs a mentor, hope I have found one of them.
e-mail seadragon2@earthlink.net for your books, I will call or run around the corner to find out what they have. I may take a small inventory for you guys.
I need time though

Happy that someone took me up on this offer and checked it out. Didn't want people to think that I was just blowing steam or something. Like I said before, I normally don't endorse anything but this is just too good to be true.

Unfortunatly I live clear across town and can't offer the services of Sea Dragon which I believe to be truly admirable, excellent form man!!

Same as you, I have met tons of techs there searching for Cisco books and such. One guy didn't even care about what the book was, if it was Cisco, he got a copy. Weird, he was saying to every book that he picked up, 'Got that certification, I'm already that (CCNP books) read this already'. Some real tech nuts show up here.

Hope you all get what you need, talk to you all later and good luck on your careers!!

Depamo, I spoke with a Halfprice cashier, she gave me this site which has more info than their halfprice site. http://www.bookliquidators.com/mainpage.htm If you sign up on this site they will email you when new shipments arrive.

Cool, was hoping that there was something to let me know what was going on with shipments. Anyhow, tried the site, looks like they won't have a registration form ready until 10/15/01 (at least that is what the site is saying).

Thanks tons!! Will save me time from driving all across town until they get a new shipment!

For all of you that check out this site, it doesn't do the store justice, there are tons more book available then what the site is showing.
