I passed the CCNA this month with a 913. I am starting to study for the CCNP. I don't have much experience on routers.
There are 4 exams. Which order should I take it in?
What books and study materials do you guys recommend?

Hi,

the suggested track is:

BSCN Routing
BCMSN Switching
BCRAN Remote Access
CIT Troubleshooting

The best books are the Ciscopress ones, the boxed set works out cheaper. If you have CCO access there are lots of papers on Cisco's site...read up on BGP & OSPF for the BSCN.

For practice exams try www.boson.com and Cisco Colt tests.

I heard that for someone with minimun experience with routers, they should take the test in this order:

BCMSN Switching
BSCN Routing
BCRAN Remote Access
CIT Troubleshooting

Is this recommended?

And also which Cisco Press Books Set should I get?
There's the
CCNP Preparation Library by Teare or
CCNP Certification Library by Gough.

Hi,

the order you take the exams is entirely up to the individual. Some people are more comfortable with switching (plus the book is thinner!) so they take that one first.

There's no set order, there's no time limit to take all four exams (except if you take more than three years then you'll have to take the first one again (which you'd do anyway).

As for books, as I understand it, the certification library is aimed at getting you through the exam (and may be lacking in depth on each topic) while the prep library covers topics in more detail and becomes a usefull reference after you've passed everything.

The BSCN is said to be the hardest, so the theory goes that once you pass that exam the rest is a piece of cake.
