I read the well written story on Steve's site last night and found that a zombie was hidden in one of my hosts at work. I strongly urge everyone in this business to read his account of the attack on his site and the results of his research. He discusses a very serious threat with the upcoming XP release. I would be very interested to know how a system administrator can best deal with this. He describes how the attacking packets were "filtered" at the router, I assume by writing an extended ACL to deny by protocol, ICMP in his case because he was being flooded with pings. Anyone else read it?

Because of reading his site a month ago, I found a trojan (horse, that is) on my computer. I caught it with ZoneAlarm, which is about the best free product on the whole net in any category. I think everyone in IT should read his site. It is very eye-opening.
