| I passed the Building Scalable Cisco Networks exam this morning with a score of 827. Not a score I am incredibly happy with, but a pass nonetheless. To date, I have never failed a test, and I certainly did not want to start today! I was amazed at how many OSPF and BGP questions asked.
I purchased the Boson practice exam #1, and it certainly did help. However, I found the actual Cisco test questions MORE DIFFICULT than any practice exam questions anywhere. To put it into context, I actually began to look forward to the complex subnetting, VLSM, and route summarizing questions, because they were easier than the other ones being asked.
Do not underestimate this test.
Do not underestimate this test.
Do not underestimate this test.
I hope I haven't frightened any would-be passers of the BSCN exam! ;-)
Well, off to the switching exam!

| Great score! How did you find that test comparing to switching?
Maybe I was drunk on the day I sat switching because I found it a zillion times harder than routing.
Good luck on your other test.

| I actually am preparing for the switching exam starting Monday. I suspect the switching exam will be easier than the routing exam, but I might be mistaken. | |

| Well done on passing the BCSN exam.
Don't worry too much about the switching exam. The BCMSN book is pretty thin compared to the BCSN books. The Ciscopress book by Karen Webb is just about all you need. In addition I used Boson #1 tests. As I'm about halfway through the BCSN books and I've already passed the switching exam I can say the switching is easier on the brain, certainly from a studying point of view.
Good luck with your study and next exam.

| Hi,
I'm sitting the exam on Monday 18th June and I was wondering if you could give me any tips or tell me what was the structure of the questions i.e. you mention about VLSM's and route summarisation, were there many IOS command questions, and how many questions from BGP, OSPF and EIGRP!!!!!

| Although I cannot tell you the type of questions per my Cisco Agreement, I CAN tell you that approximately HALF of my questions were BGP and OSPF. For example, I had maybe one or two RIP questions. I am guessing that they are assuming you have RIP knowledge. After all, it is the simplest of router protocols. | |

| Hi Strikeattack,
Thanks for the info. Please can you tell me the total no. of questions and the time limit as I have seen a lot of variations regarding the total time allowed and the no. of qestions.

| I did the test today and my test was 61 questions with 300 free points just for showing up, a passing grade of 690, and 75 minutes to complete it. The test is not that hard, I just read the BSCN book and I got 919 on my test. Read the Cisco Press BSCN book several times and you should do ok, just make sure you know everything in the book because what might seem like a pointless detail could be part of several questions on the test. | |

| heed all advise here well ......
this was the only cisco exam i was in any actual
danger of failing when i had 5 questions left
with 1 minute to go and got to three of them,
when i got up from my chair my knees were weak.
my biggest mistake ... taking this exam three
weeks after passing i-net+ do not fast track this
exam it could cost you.

| Thanks guys...
I will start the switching exam as soon as I finish this Memory course that I am taking. I purchased Kevein Trudeau's Mega Memory from an eBay auction for about $10, in hopes that it will help me remember some of this Cisco stuff as I read it. I am giving it a genuine chance, but I feel a little ridiculous doing some of the excersizes outload with my headphones on and my wife in the room.
I'll let you guys know if the course actually helps with memory recall or not. |
