what does a "line card" mean on a catalyst 6500 switch. I had an enginner tell me that I might have a bad line card. Is that the same as saying you have a bad module in slot 7????????????

The "switching modules" are often refered to as line cards. By "switching modules" I mean all of the Ethernet modules.

Although at work we often call them line cards, I cannot find any reference to "line cards" in the Cisco documentation.

Perhaps I'm not looking hard enough.
