| hi Everyone,
I passed about 2 hours ago! Score isn't relevant but it was a 'comfortable' margin.
As I'm relatively new here, a bit of background first. I took over an existing WAN with seven sites just over two years ago.
The company paid for a CCNA course and I passed the CCNA 22 months ago. We've had a few changes to the network, sold some sites, bought some others which helped to keep my hand in but there's been months at a time where I've not touched a router.
Last Christmas I got a brilliant present from my family, the Ciscopress CCNP box set. So I actually started on BSCN about mid-December.
I read the book twice, making revision notes the second time. I find I remember stuff better if I've written it out for myself. I also downloaded a few items from Cisco, specifically on OSPF and BGP networks.
Took all three Boson tests (test 2 seemed to be telling me I had no chance!). Tests 1 and 3 were ok, I was scoring about 70% on the first attempt on each test.
I though the actual exam was fairly easy in the end, probably down to the old 'military' technique of train hard and the 'fighting is easier'...
Now it's on to the switching exam, probably in about 2 - 3 months.
Hope this helps,
Regards

| Great work! Welcome, we are glad to have you aboard. Most people said bcsn is hard but I found it very easy comparing to switching. Study hard for switching and use cisco on-line test. | |

| thanks,
Jane55, you've got me worried now, other people hint that switching is easier, I was hoping for an easier ride on this one...
I have five 2820 switches on site here but TBH I never look at them, they just 'run' for ever and a day.
Strikeatack, good luck for the 15th! I don't remember much about my exam, it was all a blur. I forgot each question as soon as I clicked 'next'. I'd allowed myself around one minute per question with a couple of minutes for the more complex ones, but I didn't seem to get anything that needed much thinking.
For instance, AIR there was only one question on subnetting and the figures involved were so simple I did it in my head. I only used about a third of a page of paper for notes/working-out in the whole exam.
Most of the questions were a single line of question with four simple answers, choose one (or two) from four.
All of the command-type questions involved looking at a list of 97 commands, split into sections like debugging, config, etc, and typing in the number of the relevant command.
I finished the exam with about 20 minutes to spare...sorry it took so long, I was aiming at completion in 3 par-secs...
If you've read the Ciscopress book and done a practice test or two then you should find it a piece of cake.
Regards
