I have read the Examcram Switching guide 2x and the Cisco Press BCMSN by Webb 2x. I've focused my detailed study notes on the Examcram book instead since it seemed more concise and less redundant is some places. I am looking for some feedback on this choice of study material. I know that for the most part Cisco Press is the prefered study resource since other vendors aren't as consistent in their quality of material. The Examcram guide did get a lot of positive feed back for the switching exam in particular so that is why I chose it as a second resource. I hope to sit for the exam in the next few weeks so I am getting into focus mode in preparation. Thanks in advance!

I like ExamCram as a secondary book, but switching was one place I did not use it.... me sorry

For switching I bolstered my reading with the LAN switching book from Cisco Press. It's more then you need to know but it's a "keeper" as a reference.

Is that book by Webb or another author?? Overall, both books have a lot of information so its a matter of trying to digest it into a useful understanding where you can hopefully draw upon it for the exam questions. I am wondering how much of the switching exam will require memorization of facts vs. a good understanding of the overall concepts of the material.

Thanks!!

No it's by Clark and Hamilton (CCIE level). As with all the Cisco CCNA/NP/DP exams now it has more to do with concepts then memorization. The LAN Switching book goes further in depth on many of the same subjects and may add to your understanding by filling in some gaps.
